On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed Mark Abell.
Attorney Mark Abell was born and raised in Lake Arrowhead, California. After high school, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a Hot Shot Firefighter, combating large wildland fires. This experience, in part, enabled him to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in 2006. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School in 2009. During law school, he graduated near the top of his class and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Southwestern Law Review. At the same time, he competed on the moot court team and received multiple oral advocacy awards, including recognition as a semi-finalist at the Wagner Moot Court Competition in New York City.
Mark’s legal career began at the Pentagon, where he worked for the United States Air Force. He later joined a boutique plaintiff’s firm, representing thousands of consumers and homeowners in complex construction-defect litigation. During this period, he also prosecuted criminal cases in the City of Inglewood through the prestigious Los Angeles County Trial Advocacy Program.
Following that experience, Mark opened the West Coast office for the distinguished New York law firm Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP. In that role, he focused on representing plaintiffs in asbestos and mesothelioma litigation.
He is currently admitted to practice law in California, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mark Abell has since established his own law practice, focusing on estate planning—an area of law he finds deeply rewarding. After preparing a comprehensive estate plan for his own parents before his father’s passing, Mark witnessed firsthand how effective planning can spare families the difficulties of probate and estate taxes during emotionally challenging times. His goal is to help others design personalized estate plans that protect their loved ones and honor their specific needs.
