Editor’s note:  Kevin Price, Price of Business media, and its partners, have done a series of articles about Price’s visit to New York City.  This is the fifth in that series. Each of our partners have now done a series.  See all the articles here

Kevin Price, host of the Price of Business show, which is nationally syndicated on the BizTalkRadio Network and Editor at Large of USABR spoke at the National Publicity Summit in New York City earlier this year.  He discussed some of the major errors he sees in how authors and other authorities are promoted and he offered, what he believes, are better approaches.  He also loves to help those seeking media exposure to pursue the best practices.

At the event, Price talked about what does and does not work in pursuing media opportunities.  “Some of the practices out there are outrageous.  They literally do not work,” Kevin said.  “When publicists do not say who their clients are in the initial email, but want you to ask for more information, that means the guest is an unknown.  When they send a huge list of potential guests, that says none are that important.  Some of this is common sense.”

The Price of Business and its media partners have done a series of articles celebrating New York.  For background on the series and to get links to the articles click here.

Price found the visit to the Summit fascinating.  “Imagine a massive room with dozens of journalists, and authors and others seeking interviews going from person to person to pitch an idea,” said Price.  Each visit is around 5 minutes long.  It is just like speed dating.  Price thought, “what a great way to meet dozens of journalists in one session.”  When Kevin Price spoke with Steve Harrison, who is the founder and president of the Summit about the event, he found that people were not introduced to dozens, but over 100 during the multi-day event.

The National Publicity Summit in New York City

In the Summit’s marketing material they ask, “Do you want to meet over 100 top media face-to-face? You’ll do just that at our National Publicity Summit.  You’ll learn from and personally meet over 100 journalists and producers from leading media outlets.  At previous Summits, we’ve had producers and journalists who do stories/programs for ABC’s The View, Today Show, Good Morning America, Time, Entrepreneur, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, CNN, Live with Kelly, Parents, Family Circle, Parade and many others. To ensure everyone gets enough one-on-one time with the media, only 100 attendees are admitted.” Price quickly discovered that the event that he participated in was just one of many they had over the week with many different news personalities.

Regarding this business model, Price said, “this is very unique business model and it is a logical way to fast track one’s media campaign.  In addition to uber networking with a broad swath of those in media, the Summit provides practical information for people to learn what works, what doesn’t and how to become the recognized authority in their industries.”  The program works well for authors, consultants, coaches, fiction writers, and more.

The Price of Business is very interested in helping those desiring media exposure to learn the best practices in media today.  They would love to introduce you to Steve Harrison and this media event.  For more information email        info@usabusinessradio.com and simply place “National Publicity Summit” in the subject line.  We will be glad to give you more information.
