Come Discover Cuba on a Unique Way
By Titan Tropic Cuba, Special for USDR
Titan Tropic Cuba by GAES (www.titantropic.com) is proud to be present in two of the most important gatherings of the Bicycle Industry in the world: INTERBIKE in Las Vegas, U.S. and Fair UNIBIKE in Madrid, Spain.
This week, RPM-Enjoy Cuba, event organizers of the Titan Tropic Cuba by GAES, presented in detail the five-stage program to cycling enthusiasts in both continents. A non-competitive prologue and five spectacular stages will allow all the participants to discover Cuba’s landscapes and nature in a challenge where adventure and competition come together to create a unique event.
Non-Competitive Prologue: City of Havana (30 km)
The bikers will meet in Havana on December 3rd to ride in a non-competitive prologue in the capital city. The Malecón, the Revolution Square and the Plaza de Armas will be some of the emblematic spots where the participants will be able to ride and to greet Cuban citizens.
1st stage: Havana-Soroa (89 km)
The capital city is left behind to enter some tracks avoiding asphalted roads, crossing villages that will let the participants explore unknown parts of Cuba. Riders will arrive through a forest to the first spectacular camp of Soroa, Reserve of the Biosphere, which has more than 20,000 orchids from 130 species.
2nd stage: Soroa-Soroa (106 km)
This is the stage of the hydraulic dams. The second stage will be a loop in which riders will go around big tracks that cross crop fields, parallel to three hydraulic dams. On the way back to Soroa, they will face a technical and stony raise as the most difficult part of the route.
3rd stage: Soroa-Viñales (119 km)
This is the longest stage of the race. Bikers will have to cross slightly mighty rivers, small villages and technical sections and finally conquer the top of the mythical Marcha Atrás trail, with some sections with slopes over 18%. In Viñales, a region classified as Cultural Landscape of the Humanity by UNESCO, with the beauty of the traditional hillocks and valleys, the second camp will be waiting for the riders.
4th stage: Viñales-Viñales (72 km)
This is the main stage. Due to its complexity and unique characteristics, the fourth stage of the Titan Tropic Cuba by Gaes can be decisive for the general classification. Surrounding the hillocks of Viñales, the route passes by tracks and paths, some of them of great difficulty. This is a 100% MTB stage with many kilometers of trails.
5th stage: Viñales – Cayo Jutías (68 km)
The spectacular end of the Titan Tropic by Gaes is one of the big incentives of the competition. In this last stage riders will cross a forest by its main trail, and the last kilometers will be passing by an opencast mine to finish in one of the most beautiful places in the island, a virgin key named Cayo Jutia characterized by fine sands.
Definitively, an exciting adventure to enjoy with the rest of the participants. It’s thrilling to think it, imagine living it.
