Beyond the Calendar: The Spiritual Significance of Your Birth Day and the Moon

You are currently viewing Beyond the Calendar: The Spiritual Significance of Your Birth Day and the Moon

The inspiration for the website was wanting to make people aware of the actual day of the week they were born on, since it is such a significant factor that they’ve probably been unaware of their whole lives. It’s amazing that most people go through life knowing the calendar date of their birth, probably their horoscope sign and maybe even the planet associated with their birthday, and no idea about the day of the week or the lunar cycle.  In effect, our website is uncovering a kind of astrology that is new to most people, so there’s a lot to learn and the entertainment value is free for the asking.

We found it to be intriguing enough to build a free website to accomplish not only that, but also to discover historically and culturally meaningful information associated with the actual day of the week / lunar phase, to help them gain awareness of their built-in powers to enhance their spiritual journey. Through the ages, much has been written about these factors.  Great philosophers have speculated through history about the moon’s effects on humans. The Full Moon is the phase of culmination and of exposure — everything visible, everything vivid, nowhere to put a shadow.  A New Moon is pure potential — nothing visible, everything possible. To arrive here is to be given a life that starts from scratch repeatedly, where the shape of things is never quite settled and you are always, in some sense, at a beginning.  The days of the week are named after the planets and gods of different religions.  Tuesday was named for the planet Mars with its forward motion against the backdrop of the stars.  That motion translates to Tuesday-born people who move first and explain later.  Wednesday was named after the German god of inspired magic, Woden, thus Wednesday-born people are clever, not forceful, and think in terms of connections. Each day possesses an interesting backstory that can shed light upon users’ life story and inspire them to move in new directions and make insightful life choices.

By signing up for our Lunar Letter, we would like to keep all users of the website apprised of upcoming months’ moon phases, lunar events, and other interesting news and reflections that can inspire users to build new connections with the sky overhead.  We plan to add a blog so that users can connect with each other as well, trading observations, comparing readings and making new friends.
