Ending Bookkeeping Nightmares — a Personal Story

By Kevin Price, Editor at Large, USA Business Radio,

I have been in business media for years.  My show, the Price of Business, is one of the longest continuously running business shows of its kind in the country.  It got started in 2001 and thrives today in markets coast to coast and on some of the most influential web platforms online.  As a result, I have had many opportunities to talk to some of the great minds of business.  I have interviewed Ken Blanchard, the best selling business author of all time.  Robert Kiyosaki, author of the best selling financial book — Rich Dad Poor Dad — has been on several times.  I’ve even interviewed Kiyosaki’s accountant — Tom Wheelwright, who is an author of a best selling book on accounting issues.  In spite of these great experiences, my companies have always had issues around maintaining our books.  We were always fuzzy, we hated monitoring it, etc.  Making money was fun, monitoring it, not so much.

Little did I know that I was going to begin one of the most liberating processes in the history of my business.

We needed a bookkeeping system that was incredibly user friendly, intuitive, turnkey for my team, and something that was not a distraction to growing our business.  A friend shared a company she had been using called Bench. She’s a serial entrepreneur and loves to grow businesses, but was always stumped by bookkeeping.  Her team (like mine) went through many services and always found herself disappointed.  She mentioned Bench several times over the last two years and her glowing endorsement seemed unreal.  Early this year we went out to lunch and she said, “Why haven’t you at least checked them out?”  That was a good question.  Other than hating to deal with such things, there was absolutely no good reason not to find out.  I broke down and my team set up a meeting.  Little did I know that I was going to begin one of the most liberating processes in the history of my business.

However, as I shared it on an individual basis, people came back to me and said, “you really need to let your audience know about this.”  I agreed.

We decided to give the process a couple of months, but within a few days of the transition, I was amazed how smooth it all went.  In days, they had everything they needed to launch.  For the first month or so, we would automatically get questions about our spending and revenue.  However, within two months, the Bench technology knew how we spent and questions became few and far between.  Determining the situation with our finances became simple.  The site’s easy to use dashboard made finding out the state of our business — at any moment — extremely easy.  In no time my team was asking, “how did we go so long without this?”  I was asking the same thing too.

In spite my enthusiasm, I wanted to give it a significant period of time before I began to sharing it with our audiences.  However, as I shared it on an individual basis, people came back to me and said, “you really need to let your audience know about this.”  I agreed, and that’s why you are reading this today.  Bench is one of the most important things we have done to improve our business in 2018.  You are going to want to check it out too.

In no time my team was asking, “how did we go so long without this?”  I was asking the same thing too.

Representatives of Bench visited with me about sharing the word about them with others, and they were delighted.  They want to make it easy for you to get familiar with the company, and become as sold on it as I am.  Check out this special offer from Bench for friends of our media.
