The Mountain & Sea House, a newly starred restaurant, features traditional Taiwanese haute cuisine with a contemporary flair and is one of the must-try restaurants for many international foodies.

Those who enjoy specialty street food and snacks should not miss out on the 58 Michelin recommended Bib Gourmand items. Some of the must-try authentic local snacks include pepper bun, lu wei (braised dishes), sesame oil braised chicken, herbal ribs stew, beef noodle soup, gua bao (pork belly bun), stinky tofu, and crispy taro ball, etc.

This year, the Michelin Gastro Month will take place between August 1st to August 31st. A list of Michelin-starred restaurants in Taipei will present a month-long exclusive menu with three discounted price tiers, and value-added combinations for food lovers to experience exceptional meal sets.

For a small break away from the bustling Taipei city, travelers can take the MRT to Beitou and enjoy the small-town slow life at the home of hot springs. It is a town full of historic hotels, teahouses, parks, and hot spring spas. Beitou also housed one of the only two green sulfur springs in the world which draws tourists from around the globe for its therapeutic effects.

Taiwan transit passengers from countries eligible for visa-exempt entry with 7 to 24-hour layovers can sign up for Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s “Half-Day Tour” at the airport; early sign up is also available by email 14 to 30 days prior to arrival.
