INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Martin Ford, author of the New York Times best selling book, The Rise of the Robots.”
The book offers a very dystopian view of the future, one of mass unemployment, long term idleness of the people, and the requirement of a basic income in order to prevent widespread unrest. Is it true, or is it more like sci-fi?
BACKGROUND
In this important interview, Price and Ford paint a very different future because of the rise of AI and robotics. While Ford paints a picture of a world ruined by technology, Price points out that the history of automation and technology has been filled with fear. He discusses the Luddites that tried to stop the industrial revolution and the greatest economic opportunities in the history of the world. He notes that the countries with the strongest economies — like the United States, which is enjoying full employment — also have the most technology and automation. The interview provides a lively conversation.
