See Which Media is Offering Megyn Kelly a Huge Salary Increase After Firing from “Megyn Kelly Today”

Megyn Kelly of Megyn Kelly Today has had a rough week.  Earlier this week Megyn talked about Halloween and immediately argued how political correctness has simply gone too far when it comes to costumes and discussed restrictions that are now pervasive on college campuses for celebrating the holidy.  During the conversation she discussed Diana Ross and what unfolded shows how difficult it is to find balance in the era of political correctness.

The conventional wisdom is that Kelly has no legitimate place to go after her fall from grace.

She alluded to the beauty of the iconic singer, and asked, “who wouldn’t want to be Diana Ross?”  She went on to explore, how can one look like her without using “blackfacing” to achieve this if one is white?  Her three colleagues she was interviewing may have been uncomfortable with the comments, but none of them came close to a protest.  She also discussed how “blackfacing” was “appropriate” when she was a child if done to look like a real person — it was just “part of the costume.”    She did not argue that a standard that was appropriate forty years ago was appropriate today.  She was discussing a standard of the past.  Her incident shows how difficult it is to maintain balance in a politically correct world.  It is difficult to look at her admiration for Ross and conclude her intentions were racist.  It was just very poor judgment, something everybody has exercised.  She owned her remarks within hours of the incident.  One of Kelly’s strengths has been her candor, which is refreshing in a world of highly scripted — and very fearful — journalists today.  You can see how things unfolded for Kelly by viewing the video starting at 5.22.

Kelly was allowed back on the air one more day, and has not be seen since.  Her tearful apology the day after was not enough.  She was off the air and her team has been negotiating her exit.  Kelly’s experience with the network has been a disaster.  She burned bridges with Fox News when she left that network, came to NBC as one of the highest paid anchors (second only to Matt Lauer, who has since left in disgrace due to sexual harassment accusations).  Her weekly show died after only 8 weeks, never finding an audience.  And her hour that replaced Al Roker and Tamron Hall has never met expectations, ratings wise.  Many fans of the old hour never forgave the network for changing something that was working very well, ratings wise.  Rumor has it, the $69 million dollar journalist (over 3 years) was on her way out before this incident broke out, this simply gave them justification.

However, who says she has to go legitimate?  The “US Really” site has already declared that it is offering Kelly a job.

The conventional wisdom is that Kelly has no legitimate place to go after her fall from grace. Very few networks have the resources to give her a comparable salary so she can save face.  Wherever she goes, she would have to take a serious salary cut.

However, who says she has to go legitimate?  The “US Really” site has already declared that it is offering Kelly a job.  According to the site, “USA Really head Alexander Malkevich, who is soon going to the U.S., is planning to meet with Megyn Kelly to offer her a job with our project, which stands for the true American values of freedom of speech and which would never tolerate situations like the one Megyn Kelly finds herself in now.”  In another article, the site indicates they will provide a significant increase in her salary, stating “The Head of Federal News Agency, Evgeny Zubarev, has promised Megyn Kelly’s salary in USA Really would significantly grow in the comparison with the sum of money she earned at NBC, and would also exceed all the offers any medium in the world might give her.”

What is “US Really”?  According to The Daily Beast, it appears to be a project that is either directly or indirectly connected to the Russian government and even boasts an “indicted Kremlin operative” as its CFO.  The Beast goes on to say “The site is quick to deny that Russia had any involvement in the 2016 election. But its gleeful association with (Elena) Khusyaynova suggests that USA Really is not the independent, inquisitive news organization that it claims to be, but rather an adjunct of a deep-pocketed propaganda apparatus that federal prosecutors say amounts to a criminal conspiracy against the United States.”

Will Kelly take this “generous” offer?  Probably not, instead she will likely take a lengthy break and manage her tens of millions of dollars carefully as she determines her next move.
