Olive Oils from Spain’s ambassador, Seamus Mullen, introduces two healthy alternatives to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. Thanksgiving is viewed as a quintessential family party in the US. The ritual of sharing a table around a dish of food with loved ones and giving thanks for all the good that was received during the year deserves a different and healthy celebration. The use of ‘liquid gold’, the healthiest fat, will help individuals to enjoy healthier, tastier and nicer textures at dinner. Olive Oil is the guest that cannot be missing on tables on such an important day. These two meals are Spaghetti squash stuffed with ginger-garlic beef and Harissa Roasted spaghetti squash. The recipes for these can be found here.

A gastronomic alternative for a healthier Thanksgiving

Seamus Mullen has been making Extra Virgin Olive Oils the base of his kitchen for more than 25 years. “Over the years I have fallen in love with the Olive Oils from Spain, both for its taste and for its health benefits, to such an extent that it has become an integral part of Thanksgiving meals that I prepare,” says Seamus Mullen, the ambassador of Olive Oils in the US.

“On this important date, I like to roast vegetables, make autumn soups, skip the turkey and roast some chickens or even cook fish.” Chef Mullen is not interested in heavy food, so he proposes two healthy dishes made with Olive Oils (Spaghetti squash stuffed with ginger-garlic beef and Harissa Roasted spaghetti squash). He also advises to start with a sweet pumpkin soup with ginger, cinnamon, roasted garlic and sage made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
