On a recent Price of Business show, host Kevin Price visited with former CBS TV Vice President, Jeremy Murphy about the media’s coverage of Trump’s intelligence leaders on the war with Iran. The discussion centered on the high-profile resignation of Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, who stepped down in protest of the conflict. Kent’s departure, driven by his long-standing opposition to “never-ending wars,” created a vacuum of leadership and signaled a deep ideological rift within the administration’s security apparatus. However, the true focal point of the controversy was Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her recent testimony before the House and Senate Intelligence Committees. Price posited that Gabbard’s performance was not a failure of communication, but a masterclass in passive-aggressive provocation designed to force the President’s hand.

The core of this strategy was an “overt cover-up” regarding Iran’s capabilities. While Gabbard’s written report explicitly noted that Iran had made “no effort” to rebuild its enrichment capacity since the 2025 strikes, she pointedly omitted this “triggering” fact from her verbal remarks, later blaming “time constraints.” By redefining her mandate to exclude determinations of “imminence”—relegating that responsibility solely to the President—she effectively abdicated her role as a strategic advisor. This maneuver stripped the administration of its intelligence cover, leaving the President to defend the war’s justification alone. Price concluded that this calculated silence was intended to embarrass the President and bait him into firing her, effectively turning her into a martyr for objective intelligence while staying true to her anti-interventionist roots.
