The Ugly Stagflation is Back with a Vengence

This is not the 1970s, and we are told this time is different. It is correct that we may have a better understanding of what caused the Great Inflation in the 1970s, but politics may lead us down a similarly stagflationary path. Why? Because when faced with a supply shock, politicians tend to make matters worse, unleashing potentially unstable dynamics for years.
