Mark Kinnebrew is a certified trainer of I’m Possible Training (IPT)  who is known as one of the best trainers in the Country and is currently based in North Dakota. He is also the CEO of IPT North Dakota and the founder of IMPACT Basketball. In 2015, he met Micah Lancaster, the founder of IPT, who became a great friend and mentor. After not being able to play professionally for the league, he realized that his calling was to train and coach others. Aside from working with players, he also helps basketball trainers create thriving businesses of impact as the founder of KinnetiK – Court To Cash.

Five C’s for Successful Coaching

As one of the best coaches out there, Mark follows five integral C’s in the KinnetiK Framework: court, cash, convert, connect, and calibrate. These have served as his simple guide and he shares it with other coaches for them to learn how to become competent individuals to train others in the game of basketball.

Court

Training grounds are important to consider, especially if you are a trainer. Not all trainers can afford to build their own gym or facility, hence, the optimal choice then is to rent a court. Given that, the duration of your rental and the size of the court should be accounted for. Moreover, you would have to ensure that you have the necessary pieces of equipment and expenses to carry out your training sessions.

Cash

You have to worry about how much you are making as a trainer. When setting your fees, initially think about the pricing structure in relation to the diversity and intensity of your services. The fees for private and personal training and group sessions should vary, given that others would require more attention and rigorous work. With all the technological advancements, you should also consider having online registration and automation. Lastly, you should have an inventory of your payment since you want to make sure that you are getting paid.

Convert

Think of how you can attract people to your training and coaching services. To do so, you can invest in content marketing and advertising to make your name and work known to the public. Since it can be difficult to handle everything on your own, you can consider business partnerships as well. Afterward, you should then look at lead generation to assess your performance and how you can improve or maintain your status. When you have the numbers, you can then generate referral programs to enhance your current situation in the business. It is also important to have a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) to make sure your customers are attended to and are satisfied with what you are providing.

Connect

No man is an island so do not think that this training is something you can do in isolation. If you want to be a successful trainer in the field of basketball, you would have to connect with players, parents, and fellow coaches. This can enhance your knowledge as a trainer and can allow for customer retention. You should also be concerned with maintaining professionalism as a coach.

Calibrate

Since you have created a thriving business of impact, it’s time to calibrate. Ask yourself “How organized is my business?” and “Do I have daily/weekly RGAs?” As a coach, you have to monitor your clients and provide the necessary feedback. You can assign and accomplish daily routines and assessments, and weekly check-ins with them as well. Further, monthly goals and quarterly benchmarks should be established, which can serve as a foundation to formulate long-term goals for you and your clients.

With the integration of the five C’s shared by Mark in your training strategy, you will be able to maximize your opportunity and career as a coach. It is worth noting that training is not as easy and simple a feat as many would think. This endeavor will need more than knowledge and skills in the game, it also requires proper planning and execution.
