Fraudsters Are the Real Payment Experts

On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed John Lande, an attorney specializing in funds transfer law and bank regulatory matters.
They discussed the ways that financial fraudsters are able to exploit U.S. law governing payment systems to extract money from individuals and businesses, and move the money overseas before anyone realizes what happened. The laws governing the transfer of funds in the U.S. prioritize speed over accuracy, which allows fraudsters to quickly move funds after they get their hands on the money. John Lande discussed the specific provisions of U.S. law that allow fraudsters to (1) transfer funds into bank accounts the fraudsters control, and (2) create counterfeit checks that can bypass fraud detection devices.
John Lande’s practice includes a diverse array of civil litigation matters.
