Price argues there is definitely a strategy. Trump is testing the limits of his power, trying to determine what he can get away with, and is insulating him with “yes advisors” rather than serious policy makers.
They discussed: President elect Donald Trump once promised that he only hires the best people. Yet, the large turnover of cabinet secretaries and other officials in his first term (along with the large swath of those same officials who did not endorse for a 2nd term) not to mention the colorful nominees he wishes to appoint currently may cause some to question that statement. A few of his more controversial recent nominees include Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, former Hawaii Representative Tusi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, Dr. Oz as the Administrator for the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and Robert Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services. “Trump started with a number of solid picks by most standards.” Says entertainment executive, attorney and producer Warren D. Robinson. “Senator Marco Rubio for secretary of state, Representatives Elise Stefanik and Mike Waltz for Ambassador to the United Nations and as National Security Advisor, respectively. These were decent picks and received generally positive spin in the media. Then he unleashed a barrage of under and unqualified firebrands, that he no doubt knew would send the media in a tailspin.” Robinson believes both Trump’s picks and well as their rollout was strategic. “Trump is a master of the media, he knows how to remain the topic of conversation and slowly dripping these nominees from best to worst is an effective way to do that. There is some talk about him potentially nominating a few of these knowing they won’t get confirmed in order to get some of his other controversial nominees across the finish line but I’m just not sure if Trump is that political savvy. I think it’s more likely the narcissist in him is convinced a Republican Senate won’t dare deny him of his dream cabinet of loyal, unqualified sycophants.”
During the interview they discussed the possibility that Gaetz would be forced to withdraw from consideration. Sure enough that happened after this segment was released.
According to a statement, “Entertainment executive and producer, Warren D. Robinson believes that when organizations are willing to have open and honest conversations about race and their own bias they can commit to meaningful change. We have seen this recently in the form of Hollywood award shows, particularly, the Grammys and the Academy Awards (Oscars). The Recording Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have both taken concrete steps to diversify their ranks and address inherit biases in their voting processes. As a result we have the most diverse crop of award winners/nominees, respectively, we’ve ever seen. Contrast that with the scandal and production shutdown currently at CBS’s The Talk, which resulted because a co-host was unable to properly engage in a conversation about race, address her own bias and commit to doing better. ‘The key part to every conversation’ Warren says, ‘starts with listening. Listening and hearing are different and if you are unable to listen then you are unable to have a conversation.’
