Sanders Calls for End of Private Health Care, This Leading Republican Fires Back
Recently the leading Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) revamped “Medicare for All” plan:
“Today’s standard bearer for the Democrat party renewed his demand to deny families the good health care plans they receive at work while jeopardizing the Medicare seniors enjoy today – and dozens of Democrats are eagerly lining up to join him for this dangerous socialist experiment.
“Doubling hard-working American’s taxes and forcing unelected Washington bureaucrats into the middle of patients’ relationships with their doctors is reckless and will surely backfire.

“Republicans – the party responsible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, and the original law that created protections for folks with pre-existing conditions – stand ready to work together with Democrats to lower out-of-pocket costs while expanding choices for patients. But this new plan from the Democrat’s policy chief is a non-starter.”
It was not that long ago when such a position — support for socialized medicine — was unthinkable, but it has become a common theme among the majority of the Democratic Party’s candidates for President. America’s private health care system, with all of its problems (largely created by government), is the greatest creator of innovation and disruption in medicine and technology in the world. Abandoning private health care where only reform is necessary would be disastrous to both the economic and physical health of the United States.
