By CareerToolkit.com, Special for USABR
CareerToolkit.com just released the top 100 careers of 2017 to help job seekers navigate the job landscape. Job seekers can review the top 100 careers overall as well as the top careers by industry (i.e. healthcare, business, science, engineering, technical, etc.) in this detailed research guide.
Top career rankings are valuable for those trying to discover the right career for them. While there are other career rankings online, CareerToolkit.com leaves the subjective criteria out of their rankings and instead focuses on actual statistics.
The CareerToolkit.com career rankings are based on salary, salary potential, job outlook, employment numbers, changes in employment, and the typical education required to start the career. The data is collected from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Lisa Parmley, founder of CareerToolkit.com said, “The factors we used for our rankings are important to many job seekers and are based on actual data. Of the six criteria, education is the most subjective. It’s true that not everyone is going to view needing a Master’s degree the same way, but we’ve added education in because there’s such a big cost in time and money when considering college.”
Of the top 10 careers the study showed that only two careers (physicians and dentists) required a Doctoral or professional degree and only one (nurse practitioners) required a Master’s degree. The remaining seven require only a Bachelor’s degree to get started.
“It’s one thing if you get into a career that pays a lot of money plus has a good job outlook, it’s another if it costs you over $100,000 in student loans and takes 8 years of college to even get started in that career,” says Parmley. “Adding in education helps round out the careers and gives a true snapshot of which careers really are most ideal.”
