INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Alyson Richman.
On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed Bestselling author Alyson Richman.
Richman is celebrating her own monumental moment with her previous book, The Lost Wife, in development as a major motion picture!! And now with this new book – Richman brings us the story of Harry Wildener – a real-life passenger on the ill-fated boat – and unexplored chapter of the Titanic’s history.
Richman discussed:
· Her previous book, The Lost Wife, in development to become a major motion picture
· Why did Harry Wildener stand out to become her main character out of all the thousands of passengers who died
· The research that went into learning about Harry
· Harry’s mother, Eleanor Widener, created a library in Harry’s honor at his alma mater, Harvard, ensuring that his book collection would always have a home
· Students at Harvard have shared a legend surrounding Harry’s last moments on the sinking ship: that Harry gave up a space on his mother’s lifeboat to return for a rare and priceless book, never to be seen again.
· Richman’s novel explores whether there is any truth to this nearly century old legend.
· There are 2 precious books that perished on the Titanic and both of these volumes are woven into the plot of “The Missing Pages.”
· 2025 year marks the 110th anniversary of The Harry Elkins Widener Library at Harvard.
In “The Missing Pages,” Richman writes the novel from the perspective of Harry’s ghost in the library his mother built in his honor, allowing Harry to tell in his own words about what happened in those final moments on the Titanic, as well as the mystery surrounding the book he purchased – so small it could fit in the palm of one’s hand.
More about the book: 1912: Harry Widener, a promising and passionate book collector, boards the Titanic holding tight to a priceless volume he’s just purchased in London. After catastrophe strikes the ship, Harry’s last known words are that he must return to his cabin to retrieve his latest treasure. Neither the young man nor the book are ever seen again. Honoring her son’s memory, Harry’s mother builds the Harry Widener Memorial Library at Harvard to house his extensive book collection and ensure his legacy. Decades later, Violet Hutchins, a Harvard sophomore recovering from her own great loss, is working as a page at the Widener Library. When mysterious things begin happening at the library, Violet wonders if Harry Widener’s ghost is trying to communicate with her, seeking Violet to uncover a long-buried secret that the ardent young Harry took with him to the grave. “The Missing Pages” reminds us that books are as eternal as the soul – and a book has the power to connect us to our loved ones, transcend time and distance and forge lasting bonds that defy even death.
