Kevin Price, Editor at Large for USA Business Radio and Host of the Price of Business Show, has recently become hooked on Quora.  In addition to daily hosting the Price of Business, Kevin has numerous writing obligations on this and other sites for which he serves as an editor and with his syndicated column, so we decided that if he’s going to write at Quora, he is going to share that content on this website.  If you are on Quora, make sure to follow Kevin.  You can check out his page here.

Kevin’s hot topics on Quora are history, free market economics, philosophy, and Myers Briggs typology, and many others.  The following is one of his recent answers to the question in the title.

I believe it is not for entirely good reasons. It is almost like the “bearded woman” or “wolf boy” at the circus — I think we INTJs have kind of a “freak show” status. INTJs are so different. We often feel like aliens on a strange planet and I think many of those who are not INTJs think we might be too.

This is heavily dependent on several factors that are beyond type. For example, what is important, as far as reputation, to the individual being asked? Also the personality type of the person asked will likely have a preference based on his/her own Myers Briggs.

A couple of anecdotal observations based heavily on being an INTJ:

  • There is a naturally strong bond between the INTJ and INFJ. INTJs do not trust many and the INFJ is actually described as “the confidant” or “counselor.” The INFJs ability to keep information and be discreet makes them very attractive to the guarded INTJ, and thus has a great reputation (to me).
  • ENTJs are often seen as great leaders (for those who find that as part of reputation). But much of this is style over substance. However, they know how to move people.
  • ISFJs drive me nuts, personally, but they tend to be very trustworthy. Often to a fault. As an INTJ, I am all about pushing the envelope. I strongly believe many (if not most) laws and rules are ridiculous, so I want to skirt them (without breaking them) as much as humanly possible. My admin is an ISFJ and is pushing my decisions constantly. She’s been with me (I think) 7 years. I keep her to keep me honest. Drives me nuts though.

That’s my take, again heavily based on my own personality type. I’d like to (read more here, while there FOLLOW Kevin on Quora and check out more of his content).
