Which MBTI Type is the Best for an INTJ to Marry?
Kevin Price, Editor at Large for USA Business Radio and Host of the Price of Business Show, has recently become hooked on Quora. In addition to daily hosting the Price of Business, Kevin has numerous writing obligations on this and other sites for which he serves as an editor and with his syndicated column, so we decided that if he’s going to write at Quora, he is going to share that content on this website. If you are on Quora, make sure to follow Kevin. You can check out his page here.
Kevin’s hot topics on Quora are history, free market economics, philosophy, and Myers Briggs typology, and many others. The following is one of his recent answers to the question in the title.
In spite of all the drama about how difficult INTJs are, they are actually one of the types that can have a “significant other” relationship with people from all the types. This is because most INTJs (even immature ones) are pretty comfortable with themselves and as a result, don’t “need” things to be certain ways by others. They will make sure their life fits them well. However, there is no doubt that some types are better for the INTJ.
The following is a brief look at types, starting with the weakest and working down to the strongest:
THE WEAKEST MATCHES
It is no surprise that all of the weakest matches for an INTJ are “Sensors” rather than intuitive. This group is made up of those Judging rather than Perceiving. “Js” don’t like to compete with other “Js” for the direction they want to go in. It is generally healthy in couples to have one with a firm direction and where to go in life and the other preferring their options open (J vs. P). In addition, Sensors simply have a difficult time with extrapolating beyond the present, especially compared to the INTJs driver of perspectives. Intellectually, the INTJ is the most forward thinking of the types. Most “Ss” have a hard time with that ride.
Of these, “Es” are a little better than “Is” because the INTJ already struggles with isolation. “Ts” are marginally better than “Fs” because they at least prefer thinking through problems and questions. However, I find INTJs and ISTJ are like water and oil.

BETTER MATCH BUT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Things are better in this group over the last if, for no other reason, these are all Perceiving personalities. This eliminates a great deal of tension that instantly comes with two “Js” in a relationship (or two “Ps,” where neither person wants to make a decision). Again, for the INTJ, an “E” is better than an “I.”

A GREATLY IMPROVED MATCH
In this group it is easy to see the one thing in common each of these have that makes it a better match for INTJs — intuitiveness. Intuitive personalities use a different language, are forward thinkers, and certainly know how to communicate with one another. Of this group, you see many more “Js” which is why they are not in the “ideal match” category. They have that competitive issue with INTJs where both want to lead the direction, which can lead to conflict. The reason INFPs and INTPs are not consider ideal matches is because of the fact they are introverted. Combine that with the INTJs ability to isolate, these two could become hermits and find their bodies discovered at home together months after passing away because someone finally decided to check on them. Yes, I exaggerate, but the INTJ really needs to get “out there” a little and that is helped by having an extrovert for a significant other. Of these,
