Cities Across America Mourn for Innocent Victim in Orlando

Following news that at least 50 people were killed in this morning’s attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando, National League of Cities (NLC) CEO and Executive Director Clarence E. Anthony issued the following statement:

“Today, cities across America are reeling from the heartbreaking news that at least 50 people at an Orlando nightclub were killed in the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, those injured, and the first responders involved in this horrific act of violence and terror.

“The National League of Cities and our members stand strong with Mayor Buddy Dyer, the Orlando council, and the greaterCentral Florida community as we mourn the victims and pray for the recovery of those still hospitalized. We offer our full support and resources to the local officials dealing with this tragedy, as they — and the nation — try to make sense of what happened and begin the healing process.”
