The Houston Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is joining forces with disaster recovery expert Susan Marticek, Executive Director of New Jersey’s Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group and its national non-profit initiative Compass 82, to offer proven solutions and guidance to businesses for optimizing continuity while helping employees get back on their feet.

Media representatives and journalists are invited and encouraged to interview Marticek on Thursday, October 19, from 9:30am – 11:00am at Houston’s Hotel ICON in the Acadia Room located at 220 Main Street preceding the Chamber’s Disaster Recovery Luncheon with Mayor Sylvester Turner.

“The road to recovery for businesses after a disaster of this magnitude is not just long, it is unpredictable, uniquely overwhelming and taxing for all parties affected, including the employees of those businesses,” Marticek said. “We must be proactive in a way that benefits the welfare of both the businesses and their personnel.”

Marticek will be sharing critical ideas, strategies, and lessons learned from the now five-year recovery of New Jersey’scatastrophic Superstorm Sandy and the efficacy of partnership between businesses, non-profits and government agencies for community restoration.
